Scope: This article supports product selection and technical discussion. It does not replace the project designer, local building code, approved construction details or product-specific declarations.
Match the test method before the number
Water-vapor transmission results are sensitive to temperature, humidity gradient, specimen conditioning and test orientation. Results from different cup methods or conditions are not directly interchangeable. Record the method, units and conditions beside every declared value.
Read the sample description and scope
A report applies to the tested construction, mass, coating and specimen identification stated in the document. A result for one laminated structure does not automatically cover a different basis weight, color, adhesive, printing system or factory batch.
Connect data to the application risk
Water resistance, tensile strength, tear resistance, UV exposure and fire classification answer different questions. Build a project matrix that links each requirement to the relevant layer, test evidence, acceptance limit and responsible party.
Project checks
- Keep method, units and conditioning with each value.
- Match the report sample to the quoted product construction.
- Do not turn a material test into a whole-system claim.
